Several types of liposuction procedures have different levels of effectiveness and safety. Some female cosmetic surgeons have their own methods for performing these surgeries. Basic liposuction surgery is performed by sucking the fat from under the skin using a small tube called a cannula, attached to a hose through the journey with fat. Cannula inserted through a small incision in the skin and relaxes by scraping the fat before sucking out. Patients were anesthetized using general anesthesia, and the method of “dry”, which is rarely used today, there is no fluid is injected.
Wet Liposuction
This is an improvement over the dry method and involves injecting a small amount of solution, consisting of a local anesthetic, a vasoconstrictor to reduce bleeding, and salt, into the field of fat to be removed. This fluid helps loosen the fat cells and prevents bruising.
Here are some types of liposuction surgery
Super Wet Liposuction Techniques
Other versions of this method are the “super-wet” liposuction and involve a large amount of fluid injected – about the same volume of fat expected to be removed. This technique is said to better control the bleeding patient, and provide a better balance of fluids in the body during the procedure. With the super-wet technique, patients still may need general anesthesia, but sometimes it can get away with IV sedation, combined with local anesthesia in the solution injected.
Tumescent liposuction
The method is considered the best and safest technique, involving a much larger amount of solution injected into the fat. This volume is usually three to four times the amount of fat to be removed, and it serves to create a large space between fat and muscle tissue, which makes it easier for the surgeon to manipulate the cannula to break down fat cells.
Local anesthesia and IV sedation are usually all that is needed to make the patient comfortable during surgery. This is a huge improvement over previous types of liposuction in that it takes away much of the risk of the procedure, which is the basis of the use of general anesthesia.
Tumescent liposuction can take four hours or more, which is significantly longer than basic liposuction and moist, as care must be taken when injecting the solution into the patient’s body. In addition, after the solution was introduced, surgeons had to wait an hour to start working to allow the solution to penetrate the network and expand the affected area.
Ultrasound Liposuction
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction came into existence in the early 1990s and consists of the use of ultrasonic waves to an emulsion of fat cells, making them easier to remove. There are two ways that this energy can be transferred – via an internal cannula, and externally via paddles through fat deposits.
The internal method proved effective, especially in fibrous areas of the body, such as the male breastkeyword area, or upper back. However, this technique has had a higher complication rate than others have.
For now, the Food and Drug Administration has not approved the use of ultrasonic devices for ultrasound-assisted liposuction. The external method has proven to be ineffective unless the ultrasonic energy to burn up so high that the patient’s skin. Therefore, external ultrasound-assisted liposuction is not yet widely used.
Different techniques are widely used around the world, with different success and complication rates. It is up to consumers to educate themselves about the different types of liposuction surgery so that they can choose which one is right for them.
